The Republican Senate has stepped up its attack on workers paychecks and introduced a Right to work “for less” bill of its own to mirror that which was introduced in January by the Republican run State House of representatives.  The Bill that would create Right to Work zones throughout the state is nothing more than an attack on both Union member’s and non union worker’s wages and benefits.  This latest attack on workers paychecks was coupled with another bill which would take away prevailing wage standards from all state of Michigan construction projects.

Mike Parker said, “These guys are unbelievable, they have the belief that the way to help the state is to make the workers who create the wealth in the state poorer.  The attack on us is blatant and coordinated and shows where their true values lie.  The ultra right wing values of taking away hard earned wages from workers shines through by their actions.  After only six weeks in office they have introduced more anti-worker legislation in the State than any previous group of legislators.”

All of organized Labor in the state will fight this attack on our member’s paychecks.  It will create labor strife in the state as workers fight to keep their wages and benefits from being cut.  Bills like this will create labor instability such that no employer will want to locate into the state of Michigan.  The reason that Michigan is having trouble attracting business is the tax structure in the state not the fact that we have Unions here.  The Right Wing Republican’s that were recently elected to the State House and Senate are not nearly as interested in addressing those issues as they are in piling onto a workforce that has already paid a steep price in the brutal Michigan economy over the past few years.

Contact your state Senator or State House Representatives.  Tell them to stop the attacks on your paycheck.
