Lansing Mayor and local unions at odds over health care costs.

As reported on WKAR by Rob South: On May 6, the Lansing City Council started special budget review sessions leading up to its budget approval in two weeks.  Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero has proposed nearly seven million dollars in cuts and savings to balance the city's budget for the upcoming fiscal year.  The single largest source for savings would come from employee contributions to their healthcare benefits.  Union member's are already paying for part of their health care benefits, but Bernero wants employees to pay another 5% toward their health care.  As WKAR's Rob South reports, there are doubts that Bernero can get the unions onboard with the plan before the council's May 19th deadline.
