  Notice of Nominations and Election of Local 580 Executive Board Officers.

Ballots must be received at the designated post office box no later than 8:00 AM on November 10, 2006.  The tally will be conducted on that date at the Local 580 offices, immediately following the collection of ballots at the post office.  Additional instructions regarding the election will be mailed to all members with the ballot.

All members who have had any change in their home address are requested to advise the Local Union immediately.  Ballots will be mailed to the most current addresses contained in the Local Union records.  Members who do not receive a ballot must contact the Local Union no later than 10:00 AM on November 3 to request a ballad.

J. Edward Kasen will oversee the nominations and elections of the Officers of Teamsters Local 580.  Mr. Kasen is a "Retired" Investigator for the United States Department of Labor, Office of Labor Management Standards.

Officers to be nominated and elected are as follows: President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, Recording Secretary and three (3) trustees.

The term of office will commence on January 1, 2007, and expire on December 31, 2009.

To be eligible for election to any office in the Local Union, a member must meet the twenty-four (24) consecutive months of continuous good standing and active employment at the Craft, requirements set forth in Section 17(c)(2) of the Local Union Bylaws.

Nominations will take place at the Local 580 General Membership meeting to be held on Monday, October 2, 2006 at 7:00 PM at the Local Union Headquarters, 5800 Executive Drive, Lansing, MI.  Nominations must be moved from the floor of the meeting by a member in good standing.

Nominations must be seconded by a member in good standing and accepted by the nominee at the time made, either in person or in writing.

Nominations may also be made by a member in writing.  Written nominations must be made by a member in good standing and should be seconded, in writing, by a member in good standing.  All written nominations should contain the follow information.

     1.  Printed name of individual nominated.

     2.  The office for which the nomination is being made.

     3.  Printed name and signature of the nominator.

     4.  Printed name and signature of the seconder.

It is recommended that any written nominations, seconds and acceptances be brought in person to the Local 580 office of the nominations meeting or mailed by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the Local Union office 5800 Executive Drive, Lansing, MI 48911.  It is the responsibility of the nominator to inform a member of his/her intention to nominate him/her so that the nominee may accept the nomination in person or in writing by the time of the nomination meeting.

For a member to be eligible to nominate or otherwise participate in the nominations process, his/her dues must be paid through the month of October 2006.  Prospective nominees are advised to verify, IN ADVANCE of the nominations meeting, their own eligibility and the eligibility of the prospective nominators and seconders.  Candidates may accept nomination for only one office and members may nominate one (1) candidate, but only one (1) for each office open (three (3) nominees for Trustees).

The election of officers will be conducted by mail ballot.  To be eligible to vote a member must have his/her dues paid through the month of October 2006.  Members not on  checkoff or who are on layoff are advised to pay their dues through the month of October 2006 to insure that they are eligible to vote in the election.
